There was a large gathering of the Anderson connection at the beautiful house
of County Commissioner W.I. Anderson, four miles north of Dayton yesterday,
the occasion being the annual family reunion.
In the eighteenth century William Anderson, a Scottish officer in the French
Army, came to America. He had one son, James, whose four sons settled in Butler
Township, Montgomery County, about 1828. One of these sons was named William
Anderson, and he had a son John J. Anderson, the father of County Commissioner
W.I. Anderson, with whom the relatives met.
The oldest member of the family present was Mrs. H. Crowell of Center Street,
Dayton, a daughter of William Anderson, aged 83 years. The oldest person present
bearing the name Anderson was Mr. John J. Anderson who is 77 years of age.
He resides with his son, W.S. Anderson, near W.I. Anderson.
Four generations were represented, in all there being about 130 present. A big dinner and a social time were heartily enjoyed, and then there was a business meeting at which the following officers were elected: President, W.I. Anderson, chosen for the third term; Vice president, Jesse Anderson, of Greenfield, Indiana; secretary, Miss Daisy Mote of Richmond, Ind.; treasurer, W.H. Anderson, Lafayette, Indiana.
